About The Position

WM is seeking an Assistant Diesel Mechanic to join their team. This role offers a safer work environment, career progression, stability, and a focus on employee well-being. The Assistant Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for fixing trucks and equipment that service millions of customers, using modern tools and procedures for maintenance on diesel and CNG trucks. The position involves inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing various vehicle systems, estimating repair costs, responding to emergency breakdowns, performing safety checks, completing paperwork, assisting senior mechanics, and reviewing inspection reports. The role requires maintaining a clean and safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards.

Requirements

  • A valid drivers license, with a clean driving record
  • Be over 18 years of age.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
  • Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
  • Perform your work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Safety checks on vehicles – the safety of every single employee and the people in our communities is our number one priority
  • Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Assisting senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
  • Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
