About The Position

As the Assistant Designer for Callaway Men’s, you will manage the administrative and follow-up aspects of the product design process, ensuring timely and accurate execution of the line from initial concept to final production handoff. You will actively support the design team's creative vision by preparing technical sketches, managing component approvals, and executing technical fitting directives. The ideal candidate will blend a passion for premium men's athletic/lifestyle apparel with an eagerness to leverage cutting-edge design technology.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university with a major in Fashion Design is required.
Working knowledge and mastery of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are required for creating technical sketches.
Familiarity with or a strong ability to learn advanced design technology and systems (e.g., PLM systems, Ned Graphics).
A strong willingness and aptitude to learn and implement new computer technology, specifically 3-D design software.
High level of creativity with a true passion for design.
Strong conceptual skills with a thorough knowledge of men's silhouettes, performance fabrication, colorways, sewing techniques, graphics, and trim.
Superior color intuition and taste level.
Excellent ability to identify, combine, and approve colors effectively within a cohesive collection.
The ability to think three-dimensionally and visualize the final garment from a swatch or sketch to the human body.
Strong presentation and verbal/written communication skills to clearly convey design directives and influence cross-functional partners.
Possesses a refined, modern aesthetic and a keen eye for quality, style, and performance relevant to the Callaway Men’s customer.
Highly organized with strong time management abilities necessary to meet tight product development and manufacturing deadlines.
A self-starter who takes ultimate responsibility for design details, actively ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and punctuality of all handoffs.
A proven team player who collaborates seamlessly with cross-functional partners (e.g., Merchandising, Product Development, Tech Design) to achieve shared brand goals.

Responsibilities

Actively participate in the creative process for Callaway Men’s.
Provide innovative recommendations regarding seasonal themes, line edits, fabrication, and new concepts that align with market trends and the brand’s business strategy.
Prepare, update, and maintain accurate technical sketches (utilizing Adobe Illustrator) and detailed specifications.
Lead or actively participate in technical design fittings, clearly defining and communicating go-forward directives to ensure fit updates are executed accurately and on time.
Ensure the product design package is complete, accurate, and handed off on schedule to the Product Development team, Technical Design department, and vendors for the creation of prototypes and salesmen samples.
Monitor and manage the approval process for material and color components, including lab-dips, knit-downs, strike-offs, and handlooms.
Approve sales samples to ensure the garment is fully production-ready.
Assist in ensuring that the product design is cohesive, trend-relevant, and aligned with Callaway’s established performance and lifestyle aesthetic.
