About The Position

The Assistant Designer provides operational support to the Design team in the creation and execution of a line. The Assistant Designer researches relevant trends, maintains the organization of the design office, communicates with the cross functional team (Merchandising, Production, Graphics), and assists the team in preparation for all milestone meetings. This role involves creating sketches of styles in development, maintaining logs for sample tracking and updating CBS sheets, and maintaining seasonal collection boards and walls. The Assistant Designer will execute organized, accurate technical packages, create and update flat technical sketches for design tech packs, and develop strong working relationships with cross-functional team members through communication and problem-solving. They will also create and update seasonal assortment sheets, maintain awareness of current selling information, market trends, and conditions, and understand the basics of the production process. Additionally, the Assistant Designer will maintain awareness of the corporate calendar, help manage deadlines, attend and participate in fit sessions, take detailed notes, and assist in day-to-day responsibilities such as filing, organizing, copying, and updating development packages. They will also assist in approving strike-offs, lab-dips, and other development materials, shop the market for ideas and inspiration, and prepare presentation materials for meetings. Researching and identifying trends relevant to the Brand's customer and creating inspiration boards for seasonal trends are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience
  • Strong sketching skills with the ability to sketch quickly in Illustrator
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in CAD, Photoshop, & Illustrator
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Understanding of the youth market and Aero customer

  • Experience using PLM is a plus

  • Assist in approving strike-offs, lab-dips and other development materials.
  • Shop the market on a regular basis for ideas and inspiration.
  • Prepare presentation materials for weekly and milestone meetings; garment samples, line sheets, CBS sheets.
  • Research and identify trends that are relevant to the Brands customer.
  • Create inspiration boards for seasonal trends.
  • Adhere to regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor as the company retains the right to change duties to this position.
