About The Position

Under the direction of the Dean, this position serves as an academic administrator supporting the planning, implementation, and coordination of academic programs and operations within the School of Health Professions and Science (SHPS).

Requirements

  • Master's degree in one of the SHPS's areas of study from an institution accredited by a Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)-recognized accreditor.
  • Minimum of three years of teaching or academic administrative experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated competency to serve in an administrative capacity.
  • Organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain community partnerships.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of pedagogy, curriculum development, and assessment.
  • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Understanding of the mission and goals of a community college.
  • Understanding of the unique needs and experiences of a diverse community college student population.
  • Computer literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination of adjunct faculty within the SHPS: recruitment, orientation, supervision, evaluation, etc.
  • Support student affairs efforts related to enrollment management, retention, admissions, registration, tutoring, and academic advising within the SHPS.
  • Recruit, hire, orient, train, supervise, and support the SHPS Career Readiness Specialists.
  • Assist in the development, management, and assessment of academic courses and programs.
  • Assist with schedule analysis, faculty workload planning, and course section management in collaboration with the Associate Dean, the Records and Registration Office, and other academic areas.
  • Support student success and completion by addressing student concerns, questions, and complaints; managing student behavioral concerns in collaboration with faculty; serving as an academic advisor to delegated and walk-in students; and advising and supporting the program waiver process.
  • Teach 3 credits per academic year to stay current with pedagogical strategies and trends in student learning with an eye toward creating strong mentoring relationships with adjunct faculty.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to collect, analyze, and interpret assessment and other institutional data; monitor trends; and prepare reports on academic quality, student learning outcomes, and other institutional effectiveness metrics as assigned by the Dean.
  • Provide faculty support to assist with longer term projects including grants, fellowships, publications, course and program development, etc.
  • Manage grant opportunities to provide adjunct professional development and to maximize the contribution of adjunct faculty to college-wide initiatives.
  • Perform routine administrative duties and implement special projects or responsibilities as assigned by the Dean.
