About The Position

The Assistant Dean at Morris Jeff will be responsible for responding to students in crisis, providing de-escalation interventions, facilitating restorative conversations, supervising students in in-school suspension, contacting parents, and tracking and reporting student data. The Assistant Dean of Students will also assist in monitoring common spaces, collaborate with staff members, and participate in professional development and meetings about students. The job description is meant to provide the overall focus of the position and is not an exhaustive list of what may be required. Flexibility and willingness to assist where needed are key to this position.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Dean of Students to establish a positive and achievement-oriented school culture vision and plan
  • Consistently uphold school-wide expectations and behavior management systems, and collect and monitor data on student behavior
  • Respond to students in crisis, support students through crisis, and provide de-escalation intervention
  • Support proactive, positive culture, expectations, consistency, and effective classroom management
  • Implement a school-wide behavior management system with meaningful and logical incentives and consequences (PBIS)
  • Implement discipline code of conduct and follow up for students, families, and staff
  • Fulfills responsibilities related to discipline documentation and actively supports and holds staff accountable for fulfilling professional responsibilities related to discipline
  • Ensure that the physical environment of the school reinforces school culture and facilitates student growth and achievement
  • Supervise school entry, breakfast, lunch, transitions, and dismissal to ensure they are safe and positive
  • Fosters an environment and culture that promotes MJCS beliefs and commitments, as well as MJCS graduate aims
  • Participate in school-wide and individual professional development
  • Perform any other duties as assigned
