About The Position

The Assistant Dean for Online Programs provides overall leadership and coordination of the development, delivery, and operations of the college's online educational programs. The Assistant Dean oversees the creation of course standards and templates, collaborates with department heads to identify faculty to develop and teach online courses, and assesses the effectiveness of instructional practices in online programs. The Assistant Dean also supervises student services for students enrolled in online programs and coordinates marketing and recruiting efforts with campus and college resources such as Extended Campus, CBA Student Recruitment, and Learning Technology Solutions. The Assistant Dean also leads efforts to plan for future online degree and certificate programs and to support faculty and students engaged in online programs within the college.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree
  • 10 years of experience in higher education
  • Knowledge of online learning technologies and pedagogies.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standard of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, MPA, or Master of Educational Administration is preferred.
  • Experience in academic program and/or student services leadership is preferred.
  • Knowledge of trends in business school enrollments and curricula.
  • Knowledge of markets or new business educational programs.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the delivery of online programs offered by the college, ranging from student services to course delivery, including setting enrollment and satisfaction goals for students
  • Identify opportunities for new degree and certificate programs to be offered online and lead the approval and program development efforts
  • Oversee the process of course development for courses delivered as part of the online programs, working with faculty and staff to identify opportunities for improvement and challenges to success
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify faculty to develop and teach courses to be delivered as part of online programs offered by the college
  • Act as the college's liaison to campus and professional organizations concerned with online education such as UIC Extended Campus
  • Measure and report on effectiveness of online initiatives based on key success indicators identified with the Dean
  • Serve as a member of the college's senior staff leadership team through service on committees and leading strategic initiatives as assigned by the Dean
  • Perform other duties as assigned
