About The Position

Western Flyer Express is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our team at our IWX Springfield Offices. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of Accounting experience, management experience and Trucking/Transportation experience.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years experience working in an Accounting role
Prior Management Experience required
Bachelor’s Degree required
Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office Suite including Outlook)
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary work product
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
Must maintain high degree of confidentiality

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in Trucking Industry highly preferred
CPA preferred
Experience in Great Plains Accounting System preferred

Responsibilities

Demonstrated hands on performance in implementing strong internal controls, negotiating contracts, operations and change management in entities experiencing growth.
Very strong Financial management/analysis background; Budget and Forecast preparation/administration.
Advanced Quickbooks; Utilization of comprehensive macro, pivot tables, and advanced excel models; very strong systems orientation and implementation experience
Responsible for managing operational data and ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
Oversees, monitors and works to improve accounting procedures, internal controls and database management.
Audits work flow to ensure that all accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with industry standards.
Assist in the month end closing and financial reporting process.
Assist in special projects as necessary.
Assists controller with a variety of tasks as needed.
Ensures compliance with all internal controls.
