About The Position

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller will play a critical role in leading the day-to-day activities of the Accounting department. The Assistant Controller will take ownership of core accounting and reporting processes, and ensure financial duties are carried out effectively, accurately, and in a timely fashion. The ideal candidate is someone who brings a positive attitude and strong business acumen to effectively manage a team in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This is a Hybrid role that requires at least 3 days/week onsite at our Irvine, CA. Corporate HQ.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a minimum of seven years of relevant and progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls experience
  • CPA and public accounting experience highly desirable
  • Supervisory experience managing a team, including remote workers
  • Must be detail-oriented, analytical, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to operate in various software systems with advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience with private equity held companies preferred; experience in a healthcare or healthcare services company a plus

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the accounting department, including responsibility for the monthly close process across multiple locations
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting packages
  • Assist in the preparation and review of journal entries and key balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate accounting policies/procedures
  • Provide accounting guidance to internal teams (i.e. A/R, A/P, Procurement, Operations, IT, HR, Payroll, etc.) by understanding the underlying transactions and researching/interpreting the company accounting policies and procedures to ensure accordance with GAAP
  • Identify, implement and monitor scalable process improvements
  • Supervise, train, and mentor staff and senior accountants
  • Analyze P&L fluctuations and prepare a detailed monthly variance analysis, including identification of the underlying business drivers
  • Resolve challenging issues appropriately and communicate in a timely, clear and concise manner
  • Assist with acquisition integration into accounting systems, financial reporting and other areas as determined by Senior Management
  • Partner with the Corporate Controller and other relevant business partners to ensure all new business initiatives are appropriately accounted for and recorded correctly in the general ledger
  • Liaise with external auditors and prepare various audit schedules
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Manage and direct system implementations, upgrades, and improvement projects
  • Participate in special projects and other ad hoc duties as assigned
