About The Position

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) is seeking an Assistant Controller for its KSE Finance department. This full-time, salaried, exempt position is based in Denver, CO, and reports to the SVP, Finance. The Assistant Controller will manage the day-to-day accounting activities for assigned entities, including month-end close, financial reporting, and accounting policies. The role involves reviewing account reconciliations, assisting with the annual budget and reforecasting, managing league reporting, coordinating annual audits, communicating findings, assisting with tax data gathering, and coordinating with the Shared Services team. The position also includes supervising, training, and developing staff, as well as performing ad hoc projects. This description is a summary and duties may change based on business needs.

Requirements

  • 4-8+ years’ experience in corporate accounting
  • 3+ years managing direct reports
  • Excellent systems aptitude
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excel at problem solving and detail oriented
  • General ledger knowledge and financial analysis skills a must
  • Excels in a time-sensitive, deadline driven environment with the ability to prioritize and keep a positive attitude
  • High detail orientation and problem-solving skills required
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate successfully with people at many levels within the company
  • Microsoft Office Experience with strength in Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA
  • Working towards CPA certification
  • MBA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day accounting activities for all assigned entities, including the closing of the Company’s books each month and developing the company’s financial reporting and accounting policies, controls, and procedures.
  • Review account reconciliations and research reconciling items timely.
  • Assist with annual budget process and periodic reforecasting, including coordination with department heads, senior management and related entities.
  • Manage all league reporting and communication.
  • Coordinate and assist with team’s annual audits.
  • Effectively communicate findings and corrective actions with staff and management.
  • Assist with annual tax data gathering for outside tax preparers.
  • Coordinate with Shared Services team members to ensure accurate financial information and processes.
  • Supervise, train and develop staff.
  • Additional ad hoc projects, as assigned.
