About The Position

West Coast Self-Storage is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their collaborative accounting team in Everett, WA. This role involves working closely with the Controller and leading a team of professionals including Accounting Managers, Property Accountants, Payroll, and AP & Cash Reconciliation. The primary focus is on supporting the team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and partnering with operational colleagues to drive business success. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys coaching, mentoring, and collaborating with a capable and internally driven team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in multi-entity environments
• Strong collaborative leadership skills and experience mentoring team members
• Excellent communication skills and comfort working closely with operational colleagues
• Systems-savvy and open to process improvements

Nice To Haves

• Real estate or property management experience is a plus
• Understanding of payroll operations and payroll-related accounting is desired

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and support a talented accounting team across multiple functions
• Oversee the monthly 5-day close process across 160+ entities
• Partner with operational teams to provide financial insights and support day-to-day operations
• Support and optimize our systems: NetSuite, AvidXchange, and Emburse
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and workflows while keeping things practical and scalable
• Maintain consistency and accuracy in financial reporting and accounting practices
