About The Position

The Assistant Controller is responsible for all aspects of accounting for an entity or a group of entities. This includes working with 3rd party providers for statutory and tax reporting, year-end submissions, and other accounting areas. The primary objective is to ensure compliance with Thomson Reuters' Accounting policies and Local Tax & GAAP requirements. The role requires close interaction with various internal groups such as Business Units, General Accounting, Group Finance, Tax, Treasury, and Internal Audit, as well as external 3rd party providers. The Assistant Controller will also manage the relationship with local statutory auditors.

Requirements

  • Chartered accountant, MBA in finance/accounting or equivalent qualification
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role or audit experience
  • Hands-on experience with SAP/ERP accounting package
  • Knowledge of IFRS or Ind-AS
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English
  • Strong analytical skill
  • Proactive ability to use own initiative
  • Hands-on experience on automation and AI

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage local statutory and tax compliance for a country or group of countries, working closely with 3rd party service providers.
  • Work with various business partners to ensure legal entities are accurately, completely, and timely accounted for in the enterprise systems, and that underlying processes have good controls.
  • Ensure month-end close aligns with Thomson Reuters' global reporting timetable, reviewing critical accounts for reconciliation to underlying documentation and accurate coding in line with accounting policies.
  • Analyze all Balance Sheet and Cost accounts.
  • Liaise with auditors on Statutory & internal audits.
  • Participate in regional balance sheet and cost reviews.
  • Complete tax packs, book tax provisions, and monitor tax account movements in conjunction with the Tax Department.
  • Review quarterly transfer pricing calculations for Group books and perform true-up calculations for local books in conjunction with the Transfer Pricing Department.
  • Provide support for tax audits as agreed with the Tax Department, either directly or through 3rd party providers.
