About The Position

Nucor Towers & Structures Inc, a division of Nucor, the nation's largest recycler and largest manufacturer of steel and steel products, is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Assistant Controller at our business unit located in Rock Hill, SC. This role involves overseeing and executing Nucor’s accounting, reporting, and internal control activities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP). The Assistant Controller will manage the month-end accounting system close process, produce corporate and divisional reporting, and ensure internal controls are maintained. This position also requires developing an in-depth understanding of the commercial and production environments, acting as a financial liaison with the division leadership team, and taking a lead role in implementing and interpreting accounting policies and system improvements. Additionally, the role involves supervising external and internal audit processes, providing analytical support for accounting issues, driving cost improvement, and training accounting teammates. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business related field.
  • Five (5) years experience in accounting or finance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and execution of Nucor’s accounting, reporting and internal control related activities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).
  • Manage month-end accounting system close process, produce all corporate and divisional reporting requirements, and ensure internal controls are maintained.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the commercial and production environments.
  • Functions as a financial liaison with the division leadership team.
  • Take a lead role in the implementation, communication and interpretation of accounting and financial policies and system improvements; supervision of external and internal audit processes and ensuring that proper internal controls are maintained.
  • Providing analytical support to departments as it relates to accounting issues and driving continuous cost improvement across all aspects of the business.
  • Training and the development and growth opportunities of accounting teammates.
  • All accounting functions, including general ledger, tax, capital expenditures, asset management, financial and compliance reporting, accounting reconciliations, assisting with forecasting, monthly balancing, inventory management, treasury functions, including credit and collections, and recording of timely financial statements.
