About The Position

Arkansas Talent Group is partnering with a well-established, $100M+ organization in Little Rock to identify an experienced Assistant Controller to join its finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting foundation, excellent judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives. This position will work closely with the VP of Finance and collaborate with departments across the organization to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in public accounting.
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills.
  • Experience with internal controls, audits, reconciliations, and ERP systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong comfort with accounting systems and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Epicor experience strongly preferred, especially Epicor Prophet 21.
  • Power BI experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Oversee general ledger activity, including daily posting, account reconciliations, and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, operating expenses, and insurance records.
  • Assist with internal audits and review accounting and administrative controls.
  • Coordinate preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
  • Assist with property tax reconciliations, reporting, and submittals.
  • Assist with sales tax management in the ERP to ensure accurate reporting and timely submittals.
  • Calculate and report company-wide commissions and maintain systems to support accurate and timely commission payments.
  • Support ERP data integrity and train/assist users in finance, operations, purchasing, sales, and other departments as needed.
  • Identify accounting issues and implement solutions to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support and supervise finance team members as needed.
