About The Position
Our rapidly growing client is adding a Assistant Controller to support its expanding finance team. This is a newly created, highly visible role designed to help scale accounting and financial operations as the business continues to grow. Working closely with a dynamic, Big 4-trained CFO and an experienced Corporate Controller, this individual will take ownership of key accounting and analytical responsibilities while identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and overall financial performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- 4-8 years of accounting or finance experience
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals (debits/credits required)
- Experience with financial analysis, variance analysis, and P&L reporting
Nice To Haves
- Public accounting background (Big 4 or regional firm a plus)
- CPA and/or MBA
- Experience with ERP systems (Epicor or similar)
- Exposure to SQL, Power BI, or data/reporting tools
Responsibilities
- Perform core accounting functions with a strong foundation in debits and credits
- Analyze P&L statements, variances, and operational performance metrics
- Support month-end close processes and financial reporting activities
- Assist with general ledger analysis, reconciliations, and financial accuracy
- Partner with Divisional Controllers supporting multiple business units and cost centers
- Work cross-functionally with sales, commercial, and operations teams
- Provide insight into business performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Support decision-making through data analysis and financial modeling
- Take initiative on special projects to improve financial processes and reporting
- Help streamline workflows and identify efficiencies across accounting and finance
- Support ongoing system and reporting enhancements
- Work with financial systems including Epicor, SQL databases, and reporting tools
- Leverage data tools such as Power BI (or similar) to support reporting and analysis
- Contribute to improving reporting capabilities and data accessibility
