About The Position

The Assistant Controller will provide leadership and coordination of property financial statements for a group of clients. The Assistant Controller leads a team of accountants and has regular interaction with clients and auditors. Together with other Assistant Controllers, ensure accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.

Requirements

Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA Eligible or CPA Preferred
Previous 3rd party multi-family property management experience
Previous experience leading or managing a team of accountants
Excellent critical reasoning, quantitative, and analytical skills
Deep understanding of financial concepts
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Proven organizational skills with attention to detail

Responsibilities

Supervision of the accounting for a specific team of accountants.
Ensuring the delivery of financial statements within the required client delivery date.
Communicating regularly with clients to discuss the financial performance of their properties and respond to accounting questions.
Responsibility for the accuracy of financial statements prepared by a team of accountants.
Supervising the accounting team in reviewing rent rolls, reconciling bank statements and monitoring monthly operating results against budget.
Coordinating with operational team members to prepare and approve financial budgets for each property.
Coordinating with the Controller and CFO and other Assistant Controllers to establish and implement short/long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
Participating in the hiring process and annual performance reviews for a team of Senior Accountants, Accountants, and Junior Accountants.
Managing efficiency and making staffing recommendations in order to meet expected performance metrics.
Supporting a team of assistant controllers in responding to financial audit requests and providing recommendations for procedural improvements.
