About The Position

Modular Building Group is seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Assistant Controller to support centralized accounting across multiple retail locations, commercial modular projects, and contracts. This role is ideal for someone experienced in multi-entity accounting, job costing, and fast-paced operational environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (equivalent experience considered)
• 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong GAAP knowledge and general ledger experience
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Experience in manufactured housing, dealership accounting, modular construction, or project accounting preferred

Responsibilities

• Support daily accounting operations, including AP/AR oversight, bank activity, GL coding, and cash management
• Assist with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Maintain general ledger accuracy across multiple locations and business units
• Track project budgets, job costs, committed costs, and cost-to-complete for modular and commercial projects
• Support contract accounting, allowable cost tracking, and preparation of invoices
• Review inventory activity, floorplan statements, unit costing, and funding packages
• Strengthen internal controls, standardize processes, and support system improvements
• Assist with software conversion tasks, including data cleanup, testing, and staff training
• Provide guidance to accounting staff and collaborate with project managers, sales managers, and operations teams
