PT Assistant Coach- Women's Basketball

About The Position

The Assistant Coach supports the assigned Illinois Central College intercollegiate sports program under the direction of the Head Coach. The position assists with training, practices, games, recruiting, program promotion, fundraising, compliance, scheduling, travel arrangements, and tournament coordination. The Assistant Coach also helps the Athletic Director evaluate the program’s progress and performs related duties as required. Compensation is $1,000 seasonally.

Requirements

Associate’s degree and/or one year of experience playing high school or collegiate sports.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Collegiate playing experience.
Knowledge of teaching and coaching methods and/or principles.
Knowledge of NJCAA/NCAA eligibility guidelines.
Strong leadership and motivational skills.
Strong presentation skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
First Aid and CPR certification.
AED (defibrillation) certification.

Responsibilities

Assist with conducting and supervising sports training, practices, and games.
Support recruiting efforts for the team and sports program.
Represent the sports program and college to prospective athletes from high schools, colleges, and appropriate athletic associations.
Help establish and maintain relationships with area media to promote Cougar athletics.
Support and coordinate fundraising activities related to the sport.
Ensure program compliance with NJCAA bylaws.
Aid in scheduling competitive games, meets, and matches, and assist with arranging transportation and room reservations for athletic travel as needed.
Assist with coordinating tournaments.
Assist the Athletic Director in evaluating overall program progress.
Perform related duties as required.
