About The Position

The Assistant Coach provides support to the head coach in all aspects of the program through the competitive season (August-December). Coach and mentor student-athletes in support of their growth as a student-athlete and member of the Middlebury College community. This is considered a full-time, hourly, non-benefits eligible position. This is a term-limited position from August 10 through December 11, 2026 for 40 hours/week. The minimum starting rate for the position is $24.47 per hour.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of constituents through strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
  • Excels in organizational skills, computer skills, and able to prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Works effectively within a diverse department and team as well as independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a soccer player at the collegiate level preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have an extensive soccer playing background and a desire to grow and learn in a fast-paced, nationally competitive college soccer environment.
  • Playing and/or coaching experience with a competitive girls' or women's soccer team
  • Experience with, or strong desire to learn all aspects of video analysis, including equipment set-up, breakdown, and presentation
  • On-field coaching, including practice planning, individual and small group technical training, and match day coaching
  • Recruiting, including talent identification, prospect communication, and maintenance of recruiting databases
  • Scouting opposition for upcoming matches

Responsibilities

  • Coach players in techniques and tactics of soccer at practice and in competitions.
  • Recruit prospective student-athletes within the rules and regulations of Middlebury, NESCAC and the NCAA.
  • Assist the head coach in preparing for daily practice including but not limited to developing daily practice plans.
  • Assist the head coach with the administration of the program including but not limited to travel plans, equipment purchasing, and budgeting.
  • Mentor and provide support for student-athletes in support of their development in the sport as well as in their academics and personal development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach or Director of Athletics in support of the program or department.
  • Other duties as assigned by the head coach or Director of Athletics.
