About The Position

The Athletics Department at Marist University invites applications for a part-time, 12-month position as Assistant Coach, Volleyball, reporting to the Head Coach, Volleyball. This position will participate in the preparation, coordination, practice & game plan preparation, and execution of practice plans during the academic year. The assistant coach position is responsible for the identification, research of, and communication with prospective student-athletes during the calendar year. The assistant coach will also assist in the academic, personal, and career mentoring of student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Valid driver's license with no serious convictions
  • Active participant in all NCAA rules education programs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the preparation, coordination, practice & game plan preparation, and execution of practice plans during the academic year.
  • Identify, research, and communicate with prospective student-athletes during the calendar year.
  • Assist in the academic, personal, and career mentoring of student-athletes.
  • Recruit athletes to Marist University by researching tournaments, showcases, high school games, tryouts and other relevant recruiting opportunities of prospective student-athletes.
  • Prepare and coordinate the recruiting calendar and accommodations in accordance with the NCAA, The Metro Conference, Pioneer League, and institution regulations.
  • Evaluate prospective student-athletes by traveling to recruiting opportunities during permissible recruiting periods.
  • Conduct appropriate communication with coaches, prospective student-athletes, and parents.
  • Coordinate and execute official and unofficial visits to campus for prospective student-athletes and their families.
  • Actively participate in all NCAA rules education programs.
  • Provide mentoring to student-athletes inside and outside of practice on their academic, personal, civic, and career aspirations for the future.
  • Assist the Head Coach in developing the game strategy and designing effective and efficient training and practices for both the team and individual student-athlete.
  • Formulate effective game plans for competition.
  • Conduct individual and small group training sessions.
  • Conduct comprehensive film review from practices and games.
  • Prepare daily team practice plans.
  • Work games and practices.
  • Assist in other tasks as assigned by Head Coach and Director of Athletics.
