About The Position

This position will assist the Head Women's Volleyball coach and organize and administer all aspects of Howard’s NCAA Division I women's volleyball program. The assistant coach will be expected to know and follow NCAA rules and regulations and successfully pass the recruiting test each year to recruit for the university. NCAA Compliance documentation will be completed accurately and turned into the compliance office in a timely fashion. The position reports to the Head Volleyball Coach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of high school, college, club or professional coaching and/or playing experience at the college level
  • Proven ability to recruit academically and athletically qualified student athletes

Responsibilities

  • Day to day coaching of student-athletes
  • Individual skill instruction
  • Help recruit academically sound and competitive student athletes
  • Editing film
  • Assist with team travel plans
  • Scheduling to enhance championship opportunities
  • Oversee and promote compliance of NCAA rules among staff, student-athletes, and representatives of athletic interest
  • Serve as a positive role model for the student athletes
  • Budgeting of assigned funds
  • Enhance image of the university and promote positive community relations
  • Serve as an ambassador of the university and a valued member of the community
  • May be asked to make public appearances or speak at civic events within the community
