About The Position

This is a part-time position for the 2026-2027 Parkrose High School Track & Field season, running from March to May. The coach will be responsible for promoting the sport within the school district and community, meeting OSAA and District Eligibility requirements, and reporting to the Athletic Director and Building Principal. The role involves teaching skills, managing athlete behavior, ensuring safety, upholding school policies, attending events, and organizing practice sessions to develop athletes' potential.

Requirements

  • Successful coaching experience in the sport.
  • Experience with high school students and the sport/activity.
  • Verification of identity and prior employment.
  • Hold or be able to acquire Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance by the State Department of Education.
  • Complete online district required trainings through online Safe Schools Program.
  • Hold a current First Aid and CPR/AED card.
  • Meet OSAA and District Eligibility requirements.
  • ASEP/NFHS Coaching certification.
  • OSAA Concussion certification.
  • OSAA Steroid certification.
  • OSAA Heat Prevention certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a positive learning environment and be a positive role model for the athletes.
  • Teach the skills necessary for successful performance under the guidance of head coach.
  • Manage athlete behavior during training sessions, meets and events.
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and School Board Policies.
  • Attend all meets and events scheduled for the sport, including coaches’ meetings.
  • Organize and schedule practice sessions on a regular basis with the idea of developing the athlete’s greatest potential under guidance of Head Coach.
  • Apply discipline in a firm and positive manner.
  • Keep current with new knowledge and innovative ideas and techniques in the sport.
  • Promote designated sport throughout the School District and community in a positive and responsible manner.
