Assistant Coach/Pole Vault Coach–Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field
About The Position
Phillips Academy seeks an Assistant Coach/Pole Vault Coach for its indoor and outdoor track and field program for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves supporting athletes in developing their pole vaulting skills through drills, mobility work, conditioning, and feedback on form, technique, and approach during practices and meets. The coach may also assist with other event groups, particularly with lifting and recovery days, and all coaches contribute to meet day operations. The position requires availability for both the Winter Indoor Season (December 1, 2026 – February 2027) and the Spring Outdoor Season (March 23, 2027 – Third Weekend in May).
Requirements
- Ability to positively motivate, inspire and be role model to high-school aged students.
- At least 2 years’ experience coaching in track and field club, high school or college setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Track and Field/Pole Vaulting experience at high school, college or higher level.
- Be adaptable and enjoy working alongside the current coaching staff.
- Ability and willingness to manage a Monday-Saturday practice/game schedule which includes travel to away opponents.
- Ability to coach during both the winter and spring seasons, or in just one of the two seasons.
Responsibilities
- Support athletes to develop in the pole vault via drills, mobility work, conditioning, and feedback on form/technique/approach during practices and meets.
- Occasionally work with athletes from other event groups, for example on lifting and recovery days.
- Contribute to meet day operations.
- Manage a Monday-Saturday practice/game schedule which includes travel to away opponents.
