Assistant Coach - Men's Basketball

About The Position

The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach provides assistance in all phases of coaching the Division I men’s basketball program. This includes student-athlete recruitment, game preparation, player evaluation, academic coordination, and practice and game coaching. The role also involves providing administrative support as assigned. The coach will assist in all aspects of student-athlete development and performance, including organizing and implementing recruitment, instructing and supervising daily drills and workout sessions, scouting opponents, and organizing and leading preseason and off-season conditioning. A key part of the role is creating a positive and productive environment for student-athletes. Additionally, the Assistant Coach will assist with administrative functions such as monitoring academic progress and working closely with the academic center. The position also involves participating in promotional and public relations activities to advance athletic programs, including assisting the head coach in coordinating fund-raising and community service activities, providing leadership and direction to community service, and assisting in the development and implementation of marketing strategies to enhance the program's image and visibility. The coach is expected to promote the University’s commitment to customer service by building effective partnerships, ensuring optimum service to all internal and external partners, and maintaining a welcoming environment for all.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2-3 years successful experience coaching basketball and/or previous Head Coaching experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Commitment to high ethical standards and academics success

Nice To Haves

  • NCAA Division I experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with college students
  • Knowledge of, and an appreciation for conference and NCAA rules
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and public relations skills

Responsibilities
