About The Position

Muhlenberg College, a Division III institution and a member of the Centennial Conference is seeking applications for a part-time Assistant Football Coach. Responsibilities include assisting the head coach in all phases of the football program within college, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations; including planning and implementing coaching strategies into daily practices and evaluating, identifying, and recruiting prospective student-athletes. This position includes College-provided housing and a meal-stipend of $800 per semester of “Berg Bucks” dining credit, for use at on-campus dining facilities while the College is in session. This part-time position is budgeted for 600 hours per year. The successful candidate will also have the option to earn additional income by providing part-time management and support of home athletic contests, the Life Sports Center, and the athletic equipment room.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Related professional experience or a combination of professional and athletic experience leading to a similar qualification.
  • Ability to motivate, counsel, and support student-athletes.
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and engage with a varied audience, including but not limited to students, parents, College employees, alumni, and community relations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III philosophy of athletics and adherence to NCAA regulations regarding operation of athletic programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive academic and professional environment where all members of our campus community are respected, valued, can succeed, and thrive.
  • Ability to travel and adapt to varying schedules, including evening and weekend hours, in accordance with the needs of the team.
  • Successful completion of satisfactory background checks including but not limited to education verification, criminal background checks, child abuse clearance, and driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support to all facets of the program in advancing the mission of the College and Athletics department.
  • Administer a competitive NCAA Division III program in accordance with college, NCAA, and Centennial Conference policies.
  • Attend practices, training sessions, team meetings, and contests (home and away).
  • Coach, motivate, counsel, and support student-athletes in realizing their potential for personal growth and development as student-athletes and members of the general college community.
  • Promote strong parent, alumni, and community relations.
  • Lead and participate in Divisional and College-wide committees and initiatives.
  • Actively participate in fundraising activities in support of the College and Muhlenberg Athletics.
  • Establish and meet annual recruitment goals, working with the head coach and Assistant Director of Athletics for Recruitment and Retention to ensure long-term recruiting goals are being achieved.
  • Assist in team promotion through social media.
  • Help plan and attend summer recruiting camps at Muhlenberg College and other institutions.
  • Attend meetings and training as required.
  • Assist in achieving team success within and beyond the conference.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
