About The Position

Wingate University is seeking an Assistant Coach, Football, specifically a Wide Receivers Coach. This role is responsible for developing, coaching, and mentoring the wide receiver position group. The coach will teach technical skills, route-running, blocking techniques, offensive concepts, game preparation, player evaluation, and college-level recruiting. The position contributes to the overall success of the football program within a teaching-focused institution that values faith, knowledge, and service.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and develop wide receivers in all aspects of position-specific fundamentals and techniques.
  • Instruct student-athletes in route-running, releases, ball skills, blocking techniques, coverage recognition, and offensive adjustments.
  • Conduct individual, group, and team instruction during practices and meetings.
  • Develop and implement drills that improve player performance and execution.
  • Evaluate player progress through practice, competition, and film analysis.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, discipline, and competitive excellence.
  • Assist the offensive coordinator in developing weekly game plans.
  • Analyze opponent personnel, coverages, tendencies, and defensive structures.
  • Prepare scouting reports and position-specific presentations.
  • Create and review film cut-ups for player development and game preparation.
  • Provide in-game coaching and adjustments during contests.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with high school coaches, junior college coaches, prospects, and families.
  • Conduct campus visits, off-campus evaluations, and recruiting communications.
  • Maintain recruiting databases and evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with all institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations.
  • Monitor academic progress and class attendance of assigned student-athletes.
  • Collaborate with academic support staff to promote academic success.
  • Mentor student-athletes in leadership, character development, and life skills.
  • Support student-athlete health, wellness, and personal development initiatives.
