About The Position

Grand Peak Academy is seeking a part-time Assistant Coach for the Boys Basketball program. This seasonal role, running from October 2026 to January 2027, involves instructing athletes under the guidance of the Head Coach, preparing the team for competition, and attending all practices and games. The Assistant Coach will also assist with equipment setup and breakdown and may lead practices if the Head Coach is absent. This position reports to the Head Coach and is classified as Non-Exempt.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the sport
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
  • Concussion Training or willing to obtain such training.
  • Adherence to all GPA policies, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and all applicable school and board policies.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and work with athletes with guidance from the head coach to prepare them for competition
  • Report to the Head Coach and is responsible for assisting with the coaching program where the Head Coach deems necessary
  • Demonstrate leadership by implementation of expectations and direction of the program
  • Preparation of team for competition
  • Attend all practices and games
  • Assist with set up and take down of equipment for practices and games
  • Lead practices in extenuating circumstances when the Head Coach may not be present.
