About The Position

The Assistant Coach, Boys Basketball will instruct and work with athletes under the guidance of the head coach to prepare them for competition. This role reports to the Head Coach and is responsible for assisting with the coaching program where the Head Coach deems necessary. The Assistant Coach demonstrates leadership by implementing expectations and direction of the program, preparing the team for competition, and attending all practices and games. They will also assist with the set up and take down of equipment and lead practices in extenuating circumstances when the Head Coach may not be present.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous coaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the sport
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment
  • Concussion Training or willing to obtain such training
  • Adherence to all GPA policies, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and all applicable school and board policies
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to traverse the sports complex, field, or court indoors and/or outdoors
