Assistant Coach - Baseball
About The Position
Amherst College invites applications for the Assistant Coach - Baseball position. This is a full-time, 10-month position. The role supports the team's Head Coach in all aspects of the program's operation, including student-athlete development, recruiting, team logistics, and compliance. The position requires flexibility to work some nights, weekends, and to travel overnight for away games and tournaments. The Assistant Coach - Baseball takes appropriate actions to support a diverse student body and workforce and participates in the College’s efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, or 4-6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience (collegiate or competitive level preferred).
- Understanding of the role of athletics in a competitive academic environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive college vehicles; must successfully complete the Five College Risk Management driver credentialing program.
- Willingness and availability to work nights, weekends, and travel overnight as required.
- Successful completion of required reference and background checks.
- An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check.

Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting daily practices.
- Provide technical instruction, skill development, and individual feedback to student-athletes.
- May provide preparation and logistical support for games and tournaments.
- Foster an environment focused on growth, accountability, and team cohesion.
- Assist with the identification, evaluation, and recruitment of prospective student-athletes.
- Communicate with recruits and their families through phone, email, and in-person visits.
- Coordinate and participate in on-campus recruiting visits and events.
- Ensure all recruiting activities comply with institutional, conference, and NCAA guidelines.
- Manage team travel logistics, including transportation, lodging, and meals for away contests.
- Drive college vehicles to practices, games, and tournaments as necessary.
- Assist in equipment management and inventory control.
- Maintain records related to team activities, recruiting, and travel.
- Assist the Head Coach with administrative tasks and program planning as needed.
