About The Position

Assists in coaching, recruiting, counseling, conditioning, and evaluating for the team during transition of vacant coaching positions; assists with administrative tasks related to the program. Supervises and manages personnel; interviews applicants and makes hiring recommendations; trains and orients new employees; monitors and evaluates job performance; monitors and approves employee leave requests; ensures compliance with university policies and procedures; receives employee complaints and attempts to resolve the issue; assigns and issues lower level corrective action in accordance with university policies and procedures; receives and adjusts and/or responds to grievances; investigates and effectively recommends more severe discipline action as warranted. Assumes responsibility for the oversight of the administrative operations of the program; coordinates team travel, game day operations, practice security, field set-up, and video exchange; serves as liaison to various campus departments; serves as liaison to pro scouts; assists in youth camp management; evaluates and implements equipment and facility needs. Implements coaching and teaching methods to develop student-athlete’s athletic skills and analyzes performance of student-athletes during times of transition in coaching staff; assists in the recruiting process including arrangement of meals and entertainment, arrangement of transportation, arrangement and conducting of tours, preparation and review of recruiting documentation. Assists with team marketing and promotional activities, attends promotional events, community activities, and fundraisers; prepares promotional materials for distribution; prepares and delivers speeches and presentations at local community groups, fundraisers, athlete events, etc.; coordinates summer jobs program and community outreach. Assumes responsibility for the oversight of the administrative operations of the program; coordinates team travel, game day operations, practice security, and court set-up; serves as liaison to campus departments as required; assists in youth camp management; evaluates and implements equipment and facility needs. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions. Abides by rules and regulations of NCAA, conference, and university. Videotapes practices, games, and strength training sessions as directed. Manages equipment inventory and related duties as directed. Develops and manages strength training program as directed. Drives passenger vans as required. Assists with training new hires. Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.

Requirements

  • At least a bachelor's degree
  • At least one year of coaching experience and/or experience playing basketball
  • A valid driver's license
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and travel extensively
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certifications
  • Annual proficiency in NCAA Certification to Recruit
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures
