Casual Assistant Clinical Instructor - Shadyside School of Nursing
About The Position
UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing is seeking a casual Instructor to join our expanding team. We welcome candidates with an BSN, enrollment in a MSN program with a 3-year completion plan, and 3 years of clinical experience. The individual hired into this role will provide clinical instruction to the part-time SHY SON program; the instructor will be required to teach every other Saturday and Sunday clinical throughout the academic year. The mission of UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing is to prepare entry-level graduate nurses for practice within an interprofessional healthcare team. The school is part of UPMC Shadyside, which is part of the UPMC health system. The focus of our program is mastery of high-level competencies reflecting the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for the delivery of safe, quality nursing care.
Requirements
- BSN required
- MSN program enrollment with 3-year completion plan
- 3 years of clinical practice
- Precepting experience required
- Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
- CPR Certification for BLS for Health Care Providers.
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
Nice To Haves
- clinical teaching experience in prelicensure program preferred
- Previous teaching experience preferred.
- Certified Nurse Educator certification preferred.
- UPMC-approved certification, preferred.
