About The Position
The City of Columbia, MO is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as its next Assistant City Manager. This role is a key member of the City Manager’s executive leadership team in a full-service, nationally recognized community. The Assistant City Manager provides executive leadership and strategic guidance across the organization and serves as a key extension of the City Manager, providing coverage for the CM as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong decision-making skills, value relationship building and customer service, and possess executive-level local government experience as a City Manager, Deputy or Assistant City Manager, or comparable role. Columbia, Missouri, is a vibrant, growing college town with a population of over 130,000, known for its quality of life and located midway between Kansas City and St. Louis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, political science, business, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of executive city management experience
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Credentialing as an ICMA Certified City Manager (ICMA-CM)
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to oversee diverse departments, programs, and services.
