About The Position

The purpose of this position is to technical and professional work as legal advisor to the City Commission, City Manager and department directors on assigned issues of applicable local, State and Federal laws, regulations and ordinances affecting the City with an emphasis on administering the self-insured claims and litigation program. This job works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in municipal law or related field.
  • Experience in administering self-insured claims and litigation programs.
  • Ability to work independently under limited supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public sector law.
  • Knowledge of Texas municipal finance and governance.
