About The Position

As an Assistant Chief at JLL, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of mechanical and building systems across a portfolio of office facilities. This role is critical to maintaining asset performance, tenant satisfaction, and operational continuity. You will lead day-to-day engineering operations, oversee preventive maintenance programs, coordinate vendor work, and respond to both routine and emergency situations, supporting JLL’s commitment to operational excellence and high-quality client service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of strong hands-on HVAC experience.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in electrical and HVAC trades, including rooftop units.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience supporting backup systems such as generators and UPS equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building automation systems, water treatment, and fire/life safety systems.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and on-call rotations as required.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CFC Certification.
  • Experience managing preventive maintenance programs and CMMS-based work order systems.
  • Familiarity with purchasing, inventory control, and contracted maintenance oversight.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic office automation applications.
  • Proven ability to evaluate building systems and recommend efficiency and performance improvements.
  • Experience working in multi-tenant office buildings or commercial real estate environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and control the daily performance of mechanical and building systems within the physical plant.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire/life safety, and control systems.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment including chillers, boilers, HVAC units, refrigeration systems, pumps, valves, piping, generators, UPS systems, and water treatment systems.
  • Respond to and complete tenant service requests accurately, efficiently, and with a strong customer-service focus.
  • Execute and support the preventive maintenance program, ensuring all tasks are completed on schedule and documented properly.
  • Coordinate and monitor outside contractors, evaluating quality, safety compliance, and cost effectiveness of work performed.
  • Participate in emergency response activities, safety programs, and required technical training; serve as on-call engineer as needed.
