About The Position

As an Assistant Chief at JLL, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of mechanical and building systems across a portfolio of office facilities. This role is critical to maintaining asset performance, tenant satisfaction, and operational continuity. You will lead day-to-day engineering operations, oversee preventive maintenance programs, coordinate vendor work, and respond to both routine and emergency situations, supporting JLL’s commitment to operational excellence and high-quality client service.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of five (5) years of strong hands-on HVAC experience.
At least four (4) years of experience in electrical and HVAC trades, including rooftop units.
Minimum of four (4) years of experience supporting backup systems such as generators and UPS equipment.
Demonstrated knowledge of building automation systems, water treatment, and fire/life safety systems.
Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and on-call rotations as required.
Strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

CFC Certification.
Experience managing preventive maintenance programs and CMMS-based work order systems.
Familiarity with purchasing, inventory control, and contracted maintenance oversight.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic office automation applications.
Proven ability to evaluate building systems and recommend efficiency and performance improvements.
Experience working in multi-tenant office buildings or commercial real estate environments.
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

Operate, monitor, and control the daily performance of mechanical and building systems within the physical plant.
Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire/life safety, and control systems.
Monitor and maintain equipment including chillers, boilers, HVAC units, refrigeration systems, pumps, valves, piping, generators, UPS systems, and water treatment systems.
Respond to and complete tenant service requests accurately, efficiently, and with a strong customer-service focus.
Execute and support the preventive maintenance program, ensuring all tasks are completed on schedule and documented properly.
Coordinate and monitor outside contractors, evaluating quality, safety compliance, and cost effectiveness of work performed.
Participate in emergency response activities, safety programs, and required technical training; serve as on-call engineer as needed.
