The Assistant Chief University Police assists the Chief of Police in the leadership, management and operation of the Police Department; assists in the development, administration, coordination and implementation of departmental policies, procedures and activities. Serves as a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Responsible for coordinating the objectives of the administration of the Police Department and the law enforcement and security efforts within the areas under the control and jurisdiction of the University of Texas System. Assists the Chief of Police in commanding the day-to-day operations of the Police Department. Understands University of Texas System Policy 170 – Oversight for Law Enforcement and Security for the University of Texas System, ODOP Policy 104 – Law Enforcement Authority and ODOP Policy 105 – Jurisdiction of a University of Texas System Police Officer. Possesses the ability and willingness to discharge the responsibilities and obligations of a Texas peace officer.
