The North Carolina Forest Service (NCFS) is designated as an emergency response Division and a team of professionals who provide forest protection, resource management and environmental education to the residents and landowners of NC through a variety of programs. The NCFS provides services to the 100 counties in NC. The NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provide services that promote and improve agriculture, agribusiness and forests; protect consumers and businesses; and conserve farmland and natural resources for the prosperity of all North Carolinians. The Department employs approximately 2000 employees. The Aviation Division of the NC Forest Service operates three hubs: Kenansville, Sanford, and Hickory and a centralized aviation maintenance facility at the Raleigh Exec (Sanford) Airport in Lee County. The Primary purpose of this position is total program responsibility for the aviation program in a designated area of the State of North Carolina. This position conducts supervisory and administrative work in managing and coordinating the flight operations and maintenance of a variety of multiple missions including patrol, search and rescue, forest fire suppression, forest management and other flights as assigned. The position provides vital staff support to the Director of Aviation/Chief Pilot. The position is also responsible for piloting rotor wing or fixed wing aircraft as assigned.
