About The Position

Inovata Foods Corp. is looking for an Assistant Chief Operating Engineer to partner with them as they bring families and friends together through offering wholesome and convenient meals. The role is located in their Tillsonburg, Ontario facility. Inovata Foods Corp. is a major producer of wholesome control brand frozen meals for many of North America’s largest retailers. This position reports directly to Inovata Foods’ Chief Operating Engineer and will have a high level of collaboration with all departments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4th Class Operating Engineer with Refrigeration B Operator qualifications (3rd Class preferred).
  • Knowledge of Operating Engineers Act, Boilers, Pressure Vessels, and fuels.
  • Knowledge of all applicable TSSA regulations.
  • Experience in installation or repair of ammonia, compressed air, water, and chemical piping.
  • Knowledge of power generation / transmission technology, water and wastewater treatment.
  • Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Chief Operating Engineer in leading, supervising, and developing Operating Engineers.
  • Assist in managing maintenance and operating safety and regulatory requirements associated with TSSA-regulated equipment with production and maintenance teams.
  • Participate in root cause investigations on issues resulting in lost time.
  • Assist in developing project costs for capital projects and provide project support as required.
  • Support oversight of Boiler and Refrigeration Plant operation.
  • Assist in liaising with TSSA on any issues, regulatory changes, and corporate requirements and help keep Facility Leadership informed as appropriate.
  • Report unsafe conditions and suggest resolution.
  • Provide communication to team members.
  • Drive adherence and improvements to housekeeping standards for the Area.
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of facility-related maintenance programs.
  • Assist with time approval, vacation coordination, and performance evaluations for team members and support their professional development.
  • Support the coordination of technical training for team members.
  • Assist with disciplinary actions for team members as directed.
  • Maintain employee files for all personnel.
  • Act as an active member of the Facility Leadership team.
  • Actively demonstrate Safety as a value through active leadership, positive influence of mindsets, and by identifying and addressing risks to prevent loss to our people, processes, and materials, while ensuring compliance with OHSA for Ontario regulations, corporate policies, and plant guidelines.
