About The Position

Build your engineering career at one of Orlando’s exciting resort destinations! Avanti International Resort is seeking an experienced, hands-on Assistant Chief Engineer to help lead our Engineering team and keep our resort operating at its best. This is an excellent opportunity for a hospitality engineering professional who enjoys solving problems, leading a team, and taking pride in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained property for our guests and Team Members. Working closely with the Chief Engineer, you will help oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the resort, including guest rooms, public areas, pools, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, equipment, and preventative maintenance programs.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of hotel/resort engineering or maintenance experience
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a hotel Engineering department
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and general maintenance
  • Experience with pools, A/C systems, drywall, plumbing, and preventative maintenance
  • Experience maintaining restaurant and Food & Beverage equipment preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond effectively to emergencies
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented leadership style
  • Commitment to guest service, safety, property appearance, and operational excellence

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, or other technical certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Engineer with the daily leadership and operation of the Engineering department
  • Supervise, train, coach, and develop Engineering Team Members
  • Review daily work orders, prioritize assignments, and ensure repairs are completed accurately and timely
  • Perform hands-on repairs and assist the team during high-volume or emergency situations
  • Maintain guest rooms, public areas, pools, equipment, and back-of-house areas to resort standards
  • Troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, mechanical, and other building systems
  • Monitor recurring maintenance issues and implement long-term corrective solutions
  • Support and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality, safety, and proper equipment operation
  • Respond quickly to guest requests and emergency maintenance situations
  • Assist with maintaining appropriate inventories of tools, equipment, parts, and supplies
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors when necessary
  • Help ensure compliance with safety requirements, applicable codes, company policies, and resort standards
  • Partner with resort leadership and other departments to minimize operational disruptions and deliver an excellent guest experience
  • Help monitor utility usage and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and control costs
