About The Position

The Assistant Chief Engineer manages department activities and helps ensure departmental standards and objectives are implemented and maintained across equipment operations, staff management, and product quality to meet and exceed guest expectations. The role calls for hands-on skills in HVAC, plumbing, hotel maintenance, and management. The position works directly with the Complex Director of Engineering to train and learn all facets of a multi-building resort.

Requirements

Ability to handle multiple functions.
Ability to speak, read, and write English.
Excellent communication and human relations skills.
Strong computer skills.
Knowledge of hotel maintenance, including HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting, and drywall.
Minimum of 2 years of maintenance or similar management experience.

Responsibilities

Conduct applicant screening and interviews for Engineering positions.
Make recommendations to the Director of Engineering regarding hiring, advancement, discipline, and promotion.
Ensure department spending stays within budgetary limits for line spending.
Ensure departmental directives and standards are followed and maintained.
Train, assign, and supervise staff.
Ensure quality performance in staff assignments.
Ensure building code and quality standards at departmental and interdepartmental levels.
Monitor equipment and special preventive-maintenance standards to ensure product quality.
