Requirements

  • Knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and direct a team to include but not limited to: Provide regular constructive feedback, Resolve issues/conflicts with diplomacy in a timely manner, Provide ongoing guidance and support for growth and development, Deploy effective coaching skills
  • Practical understanding of anti-harassment and discrimination laws
  • Ensure team (s) attend mandatory department and/or mandatory company training (s) as required.
  • Computer literacy in applicable software packages (Microsoft OS and Office Suite, Scott Studios/Wide Orbit automation, etc.)
  • Ability to troubleshoot broadcast equipment to the component level
  • Ability to work independently to troubleshoot and repair AM transmitting facilities and class C FM transmitting facilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving ability and skill in prioritizing
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, UPS, standby generators, record keeping, and level 1 maintenance
  • Knowledge of telephone systems and protocols, including POTS, ISDN, T1, DSL, and PRI circuits
  • Interact with management and staff at all levels
  • Ability to multitask and handle pressures and deadlines
  • Complies with Network and Urban One’s mandatory training and adheres to related course deadlines
  • Submit to a criminal background check
  • Legal right to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • AA or technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Broadcasting Technology, or related field; or equivalent level of experience.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must provide required proof of personal vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute and timely the installation and set up of all station and studio facilities.
  • Manage project timelines and assist in developing budgets, coordinating with technicians and stakeholders, ensuring technical specifications are met, troubleshooting technical issues, documenting project progress, and overseeing quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle, all while maintaining effective communication with clients and relevant teams.
  • Develop a strategy to ensure IT systems and network vulnerability remediation efforts are created in alignment with the company's goals.
  • Recommend and oversee the purchase of equipment necessary to produce a quality product and maximize effectiveness and efficiency during emergency situations
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure technology needs are met.
  • Develop a deep knowledge of the operation of all station equipment, including the use of all related test equipment.
  • Ensure that all projects are properly implemented and executed per the agreed-upon schedule.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills.
  • Triage equipment outages, malfunctions, and related technical problems at studio, transmitter, and translator locations.
  • Ensure the operation and maintenance of company vehicles according to the guidelines of the station and the Company.
  • Select and coordinate contractors who perform construction, maintenance and repairs at Company sites, or on Company equipment. This includes transmitter equipment, antennas and towers, buildings and grounds, and vehicles. Also manages contractors and consultants who do measurements and testing for legal compliance.
  • Maintain effective communication with property owners or managers,
  • Monitor sites to ensure tenants follow the terms of their leases.
  • Regulatory compliance, contractor management, planning, and logistics
  • Mentors new employees and/or interns to learn industry and required skills.
  • Stays current with new technologies
  • Allocate time to perform compliance-related duties, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all FCC, FAA, FEMA, and Company rules, regulations, and guidelines, which will encompass 20% of the time allocation.
  • Ensure that transmitters and related equipment are operated within legal requirements.
  • Arrange for frequency coordination.
  • Maintain records and documentation of transmitter sites.
  • IT Systems installation, maintenance, and support. Maintain local business network, digital media network, and WIFI access points, and provide user desktop support. Must have a good working knowledge of, and be able to repair, PCs, servers, and other network equipment, which will encompass 10% of the responsibilities of this role.
  • Wide Orbit automation configuration and maintenance, including programming for automated content.
  • AM and FM transmitter equipment installation and maintenance, including STL infrastructure, audio processing, and remote control.
  • Ensuring that the studio install is properly maintained, including audio routers, consoles, digital playback systems, PCs, TV, and any other specialized equipment utilized, including specialized office and studio telephone systems and technology. This includes knowledge of POTs, SIP, PRI, ISDN, VoIP, and AoIP protocols.
  • Ability to work after hours and be on call 24/7 on occasion for emergencies or scheduled maintenance
