About The Position

The main purpose of this position is to supervise and monitor the daily operations of infectious disease case investigation activities in support of the mission to identify cases and monitor trends of infectious diseases in Maryland. This position will monitor all reportable disease investigations (not including HIV and STIs), collaborate with and provide guidance to local health departments regarding the control of infectious diseases, supervise epidemiologists in the division to ensure quality of work and lead the reconciliation process between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Maryland Department of Health (MDH). This position will support the mission of the Prevention and Health Promotion Administration which is to protect, promote and improve the health and well-being of all Marylanders by decreasing the morbidity and mortality associated with infectious diseases. This position reports to the Chief, Division of Infectious Disease Surveillance.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Six years of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Two years of experience preventing or controlling communicable diseases in a local, state or federal public health agency.
  • Possession of a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

  • Experience supervising staff in a public health setting.
  • Experience conducting epidemiologic studies and investigations of communicable disease cases.
