About The Position

Franz Family Bakery is seeking an Engineering Assistant for its Springfield Bakery. The Engineering Assistant manages the bakery operation alongside the Chief Engineer and in the Chief Engineer’s absence. The role performs maintenance tasks in an orderly, cost-conscious manner while working safely and efficiently with minimal disruption to production. It also provides technical assistance to the Chief Engineer and supports the maintenance department across all areas.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office and CMMS.
Knowledge of tooling design and fabrication.
Proven ability to manage multiple project plans, with solid project and time-management skills.
Attention to detail to manage multiple projects and departmental responsibilities.
Excellent organizational skills.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Experience working independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Ability to lead teams effectively to achieve goal completion.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

Electrical knowledge or an electrical license.

Responsibilities

Perform management duties as designated by the Chief Engineer.
Recommend equipment-function improvements to the Chief Engineer.
Work in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
Ensure work areas are clean, safe, and follow company GMPs.
Ensure engineering staff work safely and efficiently in compliance with federal and state requirements.
Ensure work assignments are completed as designated by the Chief Engineer.
Maintain accurate, timely records for work orders, maintenance calls, and preventive maintenance reports.
Order parts required for equipment repairs.
Respond to maintenance and production-line stoppage calls.
Perform duties in all areas of the maintenance department.
Provide technical assistance and information to the Chief Engineer as needed.
Recognize work that needs to be accomplished and make recommendations to the Chief Engineer.
Communicate effectively with staff and vendors.
Support and adhere to Franz Core Values.
Use proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when required while performing operator or cleanup duties.
Follow plant safety rules and procedures, encourage safe work techniques, and mentor or coach employees.
Perform duties safely and use discretion to prevent injuries.
Complete annual safety refresher training requirements.
Perform additional duties or responsibilities as assigned.
