About The Position

The Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) is a social and human services agency dedicated to strengthening families, ensuring safety, and achieving permanency for children through prevention, services, and support. As an Assistant Case Manager/Case Aide at the Welcome Center, you will play a crucial role in supporting vulnerable children and families. The role involves direct engagement with children, administrative support, client assistance, and community resource referrals. After four years of successful service, there is an opportunity for promotion to DCS Specialist Trainee.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license and a satisfactory 39-month driving record
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification
  • Work history, Central Registry, and Public Record review will be considered
  • Ability to use a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business
  • May be required to use personal transportation for State business and maintain current vehicle registration and motor vehicle insurance
  • Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of college or university coursework with a minimum of 21 semester hours in: Child Development, Rehabilitation, Social Services, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Or another closely related field

Responsibilities

  • Transport clients and children and ensure proper use of child safety seats
  • Transport children to designated placements as needed
  • Assist clients with application processes
  • Provide case assistance to participants involved in child safety services
  • Engage, observe, and interact with children (examples: lice treatments, changing diapers, potty training, bathing, comforting)
  • Provide trauma-informed care to children
  • Perform housekeeping functions (examples: laundry, cleaning dishes, preparing meals, general cleaning)
  • Assist Kinship Caregivers with TANF referrals, Fingerprint Clearance Card appointments, email account setup, and billing submission processes
  • Process service approvals for living arrangements and support services, including Kinship Home Studies and Courtesy Supervision requests
  • Respond to service approval inquiries and verify the accuracy of service request documentation
  • Provide clerical and administrative support and maintain accurate records
  • Refer clients and families to community resources and organizations that promote self-sufficiency
  • Document client interactions, activities, and service-related information
  • Participate in professional and unit meetings and deliver goods as requested
  • Travel in-state and out-of-state as required
  • Work outside of regular business hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
