About The Position

GAI Consultants is seeking an Assistant Substation CAD Operator 3 to support Substation projects. This position requires working with engineering and other technical subject matter experts in all aspects of electrical substation and protections & controls design services. The successful candidate will perform CAD work of red-lined engineering markups for various substations and/or protection and control engineering projects as well as project support working under engineering supervision. Requirements

  • 3+ Years of Experience
  • Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Opening, revising, plotting, and saving of drawing CAD files.
  • Assist in compiling, collating, assembling, and verifying completeness of drawing and project document packages.
  • Knowledge of plot profiles and user profiles in CAD package.
  • Assist CAD technicians and CAD operators in the development of their skills as required.
  • Ability to learn multiple software platforms including, but not limited to, AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Attend project-specific meetings as required.
  • Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and be able to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines and unexpected developments.
  • Ability to work extended hours or after hours when required.
  • Learning and helping to find ways to improve GAI Engineering CAD Standards.
  • Effective communication with the project team.
  • Ability to learn AutoCAD Electrical smart functions and relationships.
  • Accountable for budget, scope, and deadlines.
  • Begins to demonstrate advanced knowledge of CAD skills.
  • Focuses on quality.
  • Begins to perform self-reviews of work.
  • Corrects errors before submitting work to others for review.
  • Clear understanding of geospacial relationships.
  • Perform general review of project work.
  • Advanced knowledge of aspects of corporate and group standards.
  • Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope.
  • Provides minimal oversight and begins to provide mentoring to lower-level CAD Operators.
  • Given general instructions and performs work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possess very good oral and written communication skills.
  • Interacts effectively with other staff.
  • Able to coach and mentor lower-level CAD staff as required to facilitate projects.
