Perform all duties of a journeyman lineman and cable splicer in connection with construction, operation, and maintenance work on dead or energized overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines and on system telephone lines. Requirements

  • Journeyman lineman card required.
  • If applicant is not a Journeyman Lineman, then a Journeyman Cable Splicer card is required.
  • Hot line experience required.
  • Commercial driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely
  • Rack, insulate, splice, and terminate leaded and nonleaded cables.
  • Install and connect transformers.
  • Install main-line service boxes, main-line disconnect blocks or switches, network protector testing, jumpering customers' services, and other types of hot secondary wiring, including residential underground.
  • Install conduits.
  • Install and connect transformers in customers' vaults as well as Company vaults.
  • Do primary switching in the underground area and switch lines at all voltages.
  • Install and maintain ornamental streetlight standards and streetlight equipment.
  • Install and remove all types of transformers, arresters, fuses, cutouts, switches, and streetlighting equipment.
  • Drive Company vehicles, both cars and trucks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Rack, insulate, splice, and terminate leaded and nonleaded cables on the Underground system only.
  • Install and connect Underground transformers.
  • Install Underground main-line service boxes, Underground main-line disconnect blocks or Underground switches, network protector testing, jumpering customers' Underground services, and other types of hot Underground secondary wiring, including Underground residential underground.
  • Install conduits in the underground system.
  • Install and connect Underground transformers in customers' vaults as well as Company vaults.
  • Do Underground primary switching in the underground area and switch Underground lines at all voltages.
  • Install and maintain Underground ornamental streetlight standards and Underground streetlight equipment.
  • Install and remove all types of Underground transformers, Underground switches, and Underground streetlighting equipment on the Underground system only.
  • No aerial work shall be performed.
