About The Position

The Natural Bridge Branch of St. Louis County Library is seeking a full-time Assistant Branch Manager to assist the Branch Manager with the operation and maintenance of the branch. The Assistant Branch Manager assumes the Branch Manager’s responsibilities in their absence and helps provide quality library service to all customers. St. Louis County Library serves more than 860,000 patrons through branches across St. Louis County, with updated facilities, programs, and partnerships.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Library Science.
• Ability to supervise, train, and motivate staff.
• Commitment to providing a high level of public service to library customers.
• Good judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Ability to work effectively and professionally with other library managers.

Responsibilities

• Schedule staff and monitor attendance to ensure adequate staffing.
• Assist in overseeing branch operations and building and grounds maintenance to keep the branch clean, safe, and attractive.
• Supervise and participate in circulation, reference, and other public service activities to meet customers’ needs.
• Participate in planning and implementing programs for existing customers and to attract new customers.
• Participate in hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining staff.
• Assist in developing and maintaining the branch collection to meet the needs of the community.
