About The Position

St. Louis County Library is seeking a full-time Assistant Branch Manager for its Natural Bridge Branch. The position assists the Branch Manager with branch operations and maintenance and assumes the Branch Manager’s responsibilities in their absence, helping provide quality Library service to customers. The role supports the library’s mission to provide resources and services that enrich individual minds, enhance lives, and expand perspectives.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Library Science.
• Ability to supervise, train, and motivate staff.
• Commitment to a high level of public service to Library customers.
• Good judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Ability to work effectively and professionally with other Library managers.

Responsibilities

• Schedule staff and monitor attendance to ensure adequate staffing.
• Assist with overseeing branch operations and building and grounds maintenance to keep the branch clean, safe, and attractive.
• Supervise and participate in public service activities, including circulation and reference services.
• Participate in planning and implementing programs for existing customers and to attract new customers.
• Participate in hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining staff.
• Assist in developing and maintaining the branch collection to meet community needs.
