About The Position

The Assistant Branch Manager assists the Branch Manager in various tasks, focusing on service excellence, staffing, safety and security, revenue generation, financial management, reporting, oversight, and regulatory compliance. This role involves leading the branch team to attract new business, grow the branch's deposit and loan portfolio, and increase profitability. The Assistant Branch Manager is also responsible for the professional development of branch staff through coaching, guiding, training, and motivating. They serve as the primary point of contact for members, building rapport and taking ownership of member issues. This individual is a problem solver, comfortable taking initiative, and stays informed about competitive intelligence and local business needs. They are tasked with creating and implementing strategies to improve productivity and service performance to achieve financial targets. The Assistant Branch Manager works under the supervision of the Branch Manager and performs other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of similar or related experience, including time spent in leadership positions within a financial institution, preferably the credit union movement.
  • Technical aptitude to understand complex programs and applications.
  • Displays courtesy, tact, and diplomacy during personal contact with others inside and/or outside of the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, accurate and ability to adapt to change.
  • Excellent decision making and time management skills.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot problems and research capabilities of current or proposed products.
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
  • The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; typing; viewing a computer screen and reading.
  • Climb/descend stairs in an emergency situation.
  • Operate routine office equipment including personal computers, copy machines, mobile and landline phones, calculator and others as needed.
  • Maintain working on a computer for six to eight hours daily, on average.
  • Work extended hours if required or requested by management.
  • Regular, reliable and timely attendance.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

  • Assists the Branch Manager in leading a branch team dedicated to delivering exceptional service to members by embracing values of Trust, Teamwork, and Excellence.
  • Contributes positively to quarterly NPS goals and avoids negative feedback on social media and public review sites.
  • Supports the training of branch employees and meeting service expectations, including service quality audits.
  • Leads a branch team dedicated to operational excellence by ensuring staff are knowledgeable, engaged, trained, and focused on flawless execution.
  • Strives to have all branch transactions and operations be error-free.
  • Manages risk by complying with regulations and understanding policies and procedures.
  • Supports and recommends ways to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Leads a branch team dedicated to growing the credit union by attracting and retaining members.
  • Meets branch growth goals and objectives by executing branch-specific tactics to grow both loan and deposit portfolios.
  • Keeps staff informed and up to date through daily huddles, weekly/bi-weekly staff meetings, and regular communication.
  • Leads a branch team dedicated to increasing member value by understanding member preferences and delivering unparalleled convenience and member choice.
  • Ensures staff understands products and effectively demonstrates features and benefits.
  • Understands promotions and provides members with customized financial solutions.
  • Leverages 'localness' by participating in local events such as community events, volunteer activities, and business network events.
  • Assists Branch Manager in training, general support, development, and motivation to retain a highly skilled and effective branch team.
  • Provides staff with career growth opportunities and builds a strong succession plan.
  • Ensures all staff are accountable for individual goals and objectives.
  • Manages staff schedules to meet member service expectations.
  • Maintains a professional and engaging work environment.
  • Ensures personnel issues are addressed immediately.
  • Oversees the branch audit processes for their branch.
  • Reviews audit results, implements corrective action, and responds in written form to Senior Management and Internal Audit teams.
  • Ensures compliance with Credit Union, industry, and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Performs job functions independently, or with limited supervision, and works effectively either on own or as part of a team.
  • Reads and carries out various written instructions and follows oral instructions.
  • Speaks clearly and delivers information in a logical and understandable sequence.
  • Effectively handles multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities.
  • Exercises the highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $70,304.00 to $80,000.00
