About The Position

Connex Credit Union is seeking diverse talent motivated to improve the financial well-being of others for the New Haven Assistant Branch Manager position. This is a full-time role in New Haven, CT, offering competitive compensation and benefits. The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for providing outstanding service to members, identifying and solving their financial needs, and driving branch growth and profitability through business development. This role involves coaching branch personnel on sales and service techniques, overseeing daily operations, and filling in for the Branch Manager during absences. The position requires a strong understanding of consumer banking laws and regulations, excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Requirements

  • College Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 1 year retail sales management or branch experience and heavy retail and commercial customer contact environment
  • 1 year interviewing experience in consumer loans and related insurances
  • 2 years of direct supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing consumer banking
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze member problems and find beneficial solutions in a timely manner
  • Continued education through selected training courses
  • Windows, Microsoft Word & Excel skills
  • Must be able to work 40+ hours per week, including Saturdays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding service to all members and identify and find solutions for their financial needs.
  • Drive branch growth and profitability through the expansion of retail and commercial members and member relationships.
  • Coach sales and service skills to all branch team members.
  • Develop sales & service leadership skills in Service Coordinators, Member Service Representatives, and New Account Representatives.
  • Assist Branch Manager in quality hiring for all branch positions.
  • Provide regular additional training and coaching for New Account Representatives.
  • Assist Branch Manager in development of goal attainment strategy, analyzing results, making adjustments when goals are not met and celebrating when they are.
  • Perform overrides, make exceptions, and decisions on the acceptance of checks when necessary.
  • Coordinate and monitor workflow and productivity to ensure high levels of accuracy, quality, and quantity are maintained.
  • Drive branch reporting by working with the Branch Manager to compile individual branch results and combining results to measure the branch’s productivity.
  • Work with Branch Manager to meet/exceed individual and branch goals on a monthly, quarterly, & annual basis.
  • Mentor New Account Representatives on the advocacy process and identifying opportunities for every member.
  • Oversee the daily operation of the Branch, according to written Branch operations standards, including adherence to security procedures.
  • Make recommendations to the Branch Manager for changes and improvements in procedures concerning the branch in relation to overall operations.
  • Assist with monthly audits in Branch Managers absence.
  • Resolve member problems/respond to inquiries beyond the authority of other Branch personnel.
  • Ensure that the branches maintain and utilize all Marketing provided; make sure all Marketing displayed is current and accurate.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate Member Service Staff through training support and filling vacancies promptly with qualified applicants.
  • Maintain knowledge of competitors’ rates and terms and other trends related to the credit union industry and drive that knowledge with the branch team.
  • Make appropriate recommendations to reward and recognize team performance utilizing MVA nominations, spot awards, and “you’re awesome” cards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with SEG groups and local businesses within the branch community to grow the business.
  • Participate in the community to help grow awareness and brand recognition of the credit union.
  • Procure and maintain active status of NMLS license.
  • Interview loan applicants, analyze credit and financial information.
  • Accurately complete required loan forms and related documents necessary in the lending process.
  • Assure quality control of loan check disbursements.
  • Pre-qualify prospective mortgage and home equity candidates and coordinate 1st mortgage interviews with mortgage originator.
  • Provide coverage for other branches when needed.
