About The Position

This position is responsible for coaching activities sanctioned by the Virginia High School League (VHSL). The coach will plan and schedule regular practice sessions during the season, and coach individual participants in the necessary skills for excellent achievement in the sport. This role also involves assisting in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of assistant coaches, and collaborating with the student activities director and other personnel on the purchase of uniforms, equipment, and supplies. The coach will oversee or help oversee the maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of uniforms, equipment, supplies, and the facility. Adherence to all VHSL policies and procedures, as well as regulations imposed by the RPS division, is required. The coach will enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, be responsible for issuing and collecting all school properties used, and cooperatively plan an annual recognition program for qualifying students. Other related duties as required will also be performed.

Requirements

  • All coaches of inter-school and League activities shall be licensed teachers regularly employed by the School Board, or otherwise have special permission from the Superintendent's office and the Virginia High School League (VHSL) in order to coach or sponsor an activity.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to develop and manage athletic activities sanctioned by VHSL.

  • Bilingual skills to include Spanish are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the coaching activities sanctioned by the Virginia High School League, as considered appropriate.
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season.
