About The Position

This position is for an Assistant Boys Soccer Coach at Spring Mills High School. The coach will be responsible for assisting in the administration of the soccer program, developing team philosophies, supervising players, managing equipment inventory, and contributing to the program's budget. The role also involves maintaining fields and facilities, preparing practice and game plans, supervising off-season strength and conditioning, monitoring player academic progress, and caring for injuries. A key aspect of the role is fostering positive relationships with players, parents, students, coaches, faculty, officials, media, and the community, while strictly adhering to all WVSSAC rules. The coach will also assist in organizing supplemental funding activities, cooperate in the supervision and evaluation of other coaches, and participate in staff development and the school's Sportsmanship and Scholar/Athlete Programs. Effective communication with the head coach, athletic director, and principal is essential.

Requirements

  • Possess or be eligible for West Virginia Teacher Certification; or, possess or have the ability to obtain the WV Coaching Authorization (High School Diploma or GED Required), prior to the start of the season.
  • Successful completion of a three-day ASEP / WVSSAC certification training class, with three online exams.
  • Completion of four NFHS / WVSSAC online courses, with online exams.
  • Required Safeschools trainings.
  • Prior approval and recommendation of administrators.
  • Ability to perform the job duties and responsibilities of the position as contained in the Job Description, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the administration of the designated sports program
  • Assist in the development of team philosophies and responsibilities
